  1. In my opinion Wiesel did an exceptional job at trying to stay alive and to remain human. In the beginning of this book it’s Wiesel’s father who is constantly reassuring him that everything will be fine and helps Elie to carry on when he didn’t think that he could. I started to find that by the end of the book the roles of these two men had switched and it was now Elie taking care of his father. To be as young as Elie was and to step up and take the lead the way he does with his father shows a real growth of his maturity levels as well as the importance of helping others even if it means you get nothing in return. If Elie was selfish and was out for himself I believe he might never have made it through this twisted and unfortunate time in his life. I think Elie did a great job of telling us just how important it is to remain human while in excruciating circumstances.

  2. I beleive it would have been hard to remain human especially when all athouritative personel around you where there to convice you that you weren’t human. i believ you could but it would be hard to do.

  3. I think that it is possible to remain human in that situation but it would take a very brave and powerful person to do it.
